PICKING UP SPEED

It is your chance to vote for my work on Saatchi Gallery Saatchi Online. My work will be on Saatchi Showdown for a few more days. Please click the link and vote for my piece. Just search alphabetically for Field-Alvarez, Heidi and you should find my work. However, the previous Showdown link should bring you right to it.

As for my progress, I was able to finish almost two entire pieces on this mini-vacation. However, as it happens, I am not completely satisfied so I will continue to tweak them. I could not resist adding this photo. This shows how I lay the work out to observe and then bead them.

WOW- WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW

I was truly astounded by what I saw. It was my first show and I will now visit many more. The Mid-Atlantic quilt festival was inspirational and awe-inspiring. I dont know how these people do it! Such a fertile ground for inspiration. Enough said, here a a few images that caught my eye. I kept wishing my camera had more photo space! I will post more photos and information about the quilters tomorrow. Sorry for the lack of information tonight but I am about to crash. Remember to click on images for details.

MID-ATLANTIC QUILT FESTIVAL

Well, I just got a letter in the mail today notifying me of the acceptance of my "SMOOT" art piece in the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival. I am so thrilled. This is all very new to me as I have been working as a 'portrait' artist of sorts and have just recently entered the quilting realm. If you are in the region come and visit the festival. It should be a fabulous time. I am excited to see and speak with some amazing quilt and fabric artists! USE THE LINK ABOVE TO GO TO THE QUILT FESTIVAL SITE THEN MAKE SURE YOU LINK TO THEIR HOME PAGE AND ALSO GO TO THE LINK FOR THE 2006 WINNERS. There are some SERIOUSLY inspiring quilts!

The following images are of my "Smoot" painting/quilt which was selected for the show.
