Next Phase of "Dreaming"

So here it is. This is the whole work and a detail showing the portrait and the smaller embroidered figures. In the next stage I will be adding bead work and possibly more embroidery work. The whole work was pieced together in the manner that a quilt would be, but the pieces are very large.

The middle piece was done on canvas with charcoal, glue and acrylics. This was then stitched to the vinyl sections on the sides and top with the seams facing the front. I then pinked the seams. Working with vinyl was a challenge but I love the texture, sheen and especially the contrast with the canvas work.

Hello. I'm delighted to find another person working in a combination of painting on canvas and embroidery/beading, although I approach it from the other direction of having an embroidery background. I'm thinking about making faces a theme in my work and found your blog while searching for contemporary artists who already do so. Do you have more of your art online anywhere? I'd love to see it. 2. HI Beth,
Thank you for visiting my site. I only have this
blog. I dont knkow if you went to the archive or old
posts but I have some work there although not really
in the portrait/embroidery style. My main work, the
portraits and embroidery, is very new for me. It
takes quite a while so there is not much up. I do
have a couple older ones which I will hopefully get to
posting soon. Can you tell me the name of your site
and I will visit. I am new to blogging and to
embellishing my portraits so I also love to visit
other blogs. It helps me see what others are doing
and figure out techniques etc. I will try to post
images in the next few days. Best of luck. Post to me
    anytime.
